As the primary environment artist I am responsible for creating everything that inhabits the world of Tetrapulse. Much of my work involves gathering reference images, sketching out ideas, and then bringing those idea to life in 3D.
A huge part of my work involves creating modular assets for our level designer to use. Because we have such a small team, I have found it important to maximize the amount that each asset can be used. Above is an example of some of the ground work I have done. Rather than having a square grid based game we decided to go with hexes. To accomplish this I created a custom hexagonal grid in Maya and created a set of standardized floor pieces that can be mixed and matched like Legos. From a small set of assets we can now create thousands of different level layouts and arrangements.
